3. All Purpose Seasoning
Posted by jasdip (My Page) on Sun, Oct 17, 10 at 6:49
I make a homemade all-purpose seasoning. I put it on fried potatoes, eggs, pork chops, ground meat, roasted veggies, in casseroles, pretty much anything.
I put it in my barbecue sauce for my ribs last nite as well.
You can omit anything you don't like.
1/4 cup paprika
3 tbsp chili powder
2 1/2 tbsp dry mustard
2 tbsp kosher salt
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp cumin
2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp ground black pepper
1 tbsp curry
1 tbsp ground basil
2 tbsp ground coriander
(I put the last 2 spices in a spice grinder)
Combine well and enjoy.

4. Do-it-Yourself Taco Seasoning Recipe
Posted by ruthieg__tx (My Page) on Mon, Nov 8, 10 at 20:16
If you want to try a homemade taco seasoning mix, it's much better flavored and it is also way cheaper...
..a few cents worth of spices is all it costs instead of close to a buck
6 Tablespoons Chili Powder
2 Tablespoons Cumin
4 Tablespoons Paprika
3 Tablespoons Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Teaspoon cayenne pepper (this makes it very spicy, add more or less to taste)
Mix all ingredients together and stir in an airtight container. An empty spice shaker bottle works well, as does a small Rubbermaid or Tupperware food storage container. This is a basic mix I got off the internet at Hub Pages but if you Google taco spice mix you will find it on many different sites.....mostly the same spices though.

17. Homemade Coating Mix
Posted by jasdip (My Page) on Mon, May 16, 11 at 11:51
I've had this recipe for years and years.
The recipe makes 2 cups, but you can cut it in half, which I do, as we don't make it all that often. When we do, we sure enjoy it. It was a nice change with the scalloped potatoes last nite.
You can also add/delete whatever spices you don't like.
e.g. add cayenne for instance. I didn't use celery salt, as I never buy it.
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tbsp salt
1 tbsp celery salt
1 tbsp pepper
2 tbsp dry mustard
1/2 each oregano, thyme and basil
2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp ginger
Stir or sift all ingredients thoroughly and store in a tightly covered jar in the cupboard.
Combine 2-3 tbsp of coating with 1 cup fine dry bread crumbs and use to coat chicken or chops. Moisten chicken breasts and shake in coating and bread crumb mix.
Bake 375 about 1 hour.
