I go by Natalie, my native name is often a bit tricky to pronounced. I'm 47, single, happy and appreciate my single life =o).
I grew up "here and there". Borned in Vietnam, moved to Italy at age 5, back to VN at age 10. Then, took refuge in the US at age 15. The 1st US state we lived was Colorado for 4 yrs.. The snow was too much for myself and my parents to put up with, so we headed down south, Houston, Texas. I've lived in Houston since then.
Although, I've spoken a few languages in my life, when I learned one, I tend to forget the other. English and VNmese are my current languages.
I've been around this forum for awhile and a few of you know that I'm in a wheelchair. I caught polio before I could learned how to walk. Currently, I have PPS (Post Polio Syndrome) but learned to adjust to it. It's just another life obstacle that I won't let it control my life. I realize that many of you have obstacles that you have to put up too. So, I really don't waste my time having pity for myself. I look for things that I CAN do which have been wonderfully more than I've expected!
Hobbies: Cooking, learning, gardening, arts & crafts, photography, decorating my home, shopping, etc.. Too many to list and not enough time to do them all!
I do enjoy and appreciate life for what I've been given. I don't take anything for granted. That's why, I make time, in between work and keeping up with the house, by giving back to the community as much as I can with volunteering.
I'm a busy bee and can only pop in and out at this forum now and then. I love this forum as many other forums in Gardenweb.com because I always look for advises, recipes, techniques, ideas, jokes, etc. and you guys are full of these. Thanks All! Your sharings are truly appreciated!

I'm Cheryl (51 years young) I live in CA (Bay Area) all my life. Grew up in the restaurant business. Married for 27 years, two boys ages 25 and 22. The oldest is a PM for a software company, my youngest is finishing up college with a degree in Audio engineering. I officially became an empty nester last August and still adjusting.
My DH travels alot on business so now that the nest is empty, I am looking forward to going with him on trips. In the meantime, my 4 legged son, a black lab named Cosmo keeps my days full. His nickname is "velcro" because he's always glued to my side :) I am an avid gardener, passionate about baking and enjoy interior decorating.
I joined Garden web 4 years ago when I was remodeling my pool. Just recently found KT. I am also very active with my brain tumor support forum, I help counsel newly diagnosed patients/ongoing care.

I'm Des Arc Ya Ya, (Ya Ya for short). I'm 58, married to Twinkie and we have three kids and seven grandkids. We have two cats, Petunia and Fuzzy and one spoiled dachshund, Roxie. We're both retired. I taught school 28 years and Twinkie worked for the state of Arkansas for 28 years. He's had three knee surgeries and two back surgeries and we may be facing another one in the not too distant future. I'm thankful that I'm retired every morning when the alarm doesn't go off! LOL
I enjoy my kids/grandkids, junking, photography, traveling (if gas weren't so bloomin' high!), reading and various other things.
Have met several KTers and would love to meet more.

I'm Marsha from Oklahoma. I've been a member here since the late 90's, but have been on a self imposed absence for the past year or so (has it been that long??) I drop in every so often to catch up (ok, I check in to get my "fix"). I've been gone so long, I had to have my password sent to me so I could post!!
I am 54 years old. I have been married to my sweetie Gary for almost 19 years. I have 1 DS (36) 2 DDs(35 and 34). My DS lives in the same area as us with 1 GS (15) and 1 GD (6), and my DD and 2 GD Amanda 16 and Jenny 4 live with us.
My youngest DD graduated from college last December with a degree in Deaf Ed. She is going to teach. Her and her DH and our 2 GS moved to Florida in June. This is the first time she has been away from us in her life and it has been hard on all of us. I tear up just typing this.
I have worked the past 24 years for Uncle Sam. I plan to work for another 3-6 years (Read: YUK!!)
My mom (84) underwent triple bypass surgery last month, and I have been busy with her. My DD that lives with us is disabled, so we help her and take care of her girls. In my free time I enjoy working in my yard, spending time with family, photography, and garage sales.
I have met a number of KTers, and haven't met one that I didn't like.
Hello to all that "know" me, and those that I am meeting now for the first time. Hopefully I will have time to "play" again.
Next...

I am Vicki from Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been a member since the late 90's also, but lurked for a long time. I was raised in the midwest--Hot Springs, South Dakota and Fairfield, Iowa. I have lived in Nevada for 28 of my almost 50 years.
I have been married to Mike for 14 years in September. I have two boys, Kiel (22) and Kelly (20). Mike is the general manager and I am the office manager of a party rental store. We have been in party rentals for 15 years. We rent tables, chairs, tents, a/c units, linens, china, glassware, etc...anything you would need for any type of event.
I enjoy my kids, riding our ATVs, traveling, shopping for anything but clothes, my laptop, antiques, photography and more. I don't collect anything in particular...if I see it, I like it, I buy it.
My sister Audry (MomBondo) is my hero and best friend. When I grow up, I hope I will be as strong as she is.

I am 66 and semi-retired (which means I work 20 hrs/wk at a low key job). I have been at the KT since 1999 and have met many KTers. I am a native Californian who moved to Iowa in 2005. My mom was born and raised in Iowa. I moved here to buy a house and because Iowans are the friendliest people I have ever met. I am divorced and have one son who is 32 and single. He still lives in CA but plans to move to Iowa "before winter". I will believe it when I see it. I am very active in my church here and love doing volunteer work. I have one dog, Jake, who is a black Lab mix; 3 cats, Tikki, who is an older Siamese mix; Gidget, and the baby, Peggy Sue. All my pets were rescued from shelters. Gidget and Peggy Sue play all day and all night and run up and down the basement stairs. They keep Jake entertained.
In my spare time I garden, quilt and sew. I love to travel and have been to about 8 foreign countries.

My name is Brenda. I have been a member here since 2004. We live in the Louisville, Ky area. I grew up in northern Ky and moved to Louisville when I got married. I have lived in Florida a couple of times. Bradenton Beach, St. Pete Beach and Sarasota. I plan on spending the winter with my friend in Ft.Lauderdale this year. I lurk most of the time and throw my 2 cents worth in on occassion. I have been married for almost 4 years now. My husband, works out of town alot, so that leaves me with my furbabies to entertain me. I am one of four children, third in line. My youngest sister passed away last year and devestated our whole family. It has finaly come to the point where I dont cry for her everyday. What doesnt kill us, makes us stronger. I love to bake and garden. Get requests all the time for my homemade peanut brittle and ship it pretty much all over the states. I worked as a dispatcher most of my life. Was road service supervisor for the AAA for 7 years. What a job that was, just an excuse for people to scream at you all day. Now I work part time as a phlebotomist. I have recently been ask to breed labradors for the Blessings Unleashed Foundation. They are a non profit organization that trains labs to work with autistic children. I had been thinking about finding a charity to volunteer for and the funny thing was they approached me. It was almost like it was meant to be. This is my first time doing anything like this and I am very excited to work with the program. Wish me Luck!

As you can see, I'm Phyllis, living in north central Minnesota, land of sky blue water and 10,000 lakes! Have been a KTer since 1999.
I'm retired from a 31 year job as high school secretary, a job I dearly loved. I have seven children, thirteen grands, and three greats, with one more due any day now.
I live in a very small town, and love gardening. I have only one cat at the moment. I keep telling Dudley(the cat) that I'm going to get him a kitten, but I think he likes being an "only child".

I'm Donna, 71 yo, married to DH for 47 years and live in So. Central Mo. in the Ozarks and love it except for the ticks and humidity. We have been here for over 25 years, bought a 140 acre farm.
Was born in Id., have lived in Fl, Mn. and moved from Ca. to Mo in 1982. I am a retired RN, originally worked as a Psych. Tech at a state hospital for developmentally disabled in Ca. for over 15 years before returning to school and getting my RN.
We have 3 children, DS,44, works heavy construction in So. Ca., lives in Hesperia. DD,41, is Adm.for the county health dept. in the next county here in Mo. DD,38, living with us at present with her two kids but getting back with her DH and moving out in Sept. Also, DH has a DD, 49, lives in Pinson, Al. Between all of them we have 13 GKs and 3 Greats.
I have a small thrift shop that I have open 4 days a week and gives me a legitmate reason for going to yard sales and auctions. DH has a small herd of cattle and puts up hay. He really needs to call it quits as it's getting to be too much for him but does gives him something to do as he doesn't have any hobbiies anymore. We used to ride motorcycles but he has lost the vision in one eye and it stresses him visionwise, so sold his bike. We had a Harley stolen out of yard in Ca. over 40 years ago.:(
I like to do some crafts, read, crochet, knit, try to garden.
Really can't remember how long I've been at GW, do remember paying for a couple of years before it went free. I spent a lot of time at the Garden Junk and Ozarks forums before finally finding the KT.
Have to have my 'KT' fix every day when I first get up and again in the evening if I find time.

I live in northeast Mississippi, which is where I was born 77 years ago. Was married to a wonderful man for 50 years, but he passed away 4 years ago. I live by myself with one gray and white cat, Polly Sue.
I love to grow flowers but am getting to the point where the grass gets to growing faster than I can weed it out. I have some raised beds that are great, because I can sit on the side and reach everything. I try to grow mostly perennials but somehow those zinnias and petunias keep creeping in there.
I have tomato plants in a raised bed by the patio. Polly Sue and I enjoy going outside at dusk and watching the bats and martins and bugs swooping about.
I was a teacher for 38 years, and was very happy to retire. My husband also worked in education. We worked in Mississippi, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, and he was based in DC. Glad to retire back to where we started. We both have family in the area.
Every time I start to respond to one of these, I get wound up and say too much and don't know when to stop! So I'm stopping now!!!!
Rose

I'm Caroline, currently living in North Dakota. I arrived here by way of Travis AFB, CA; Dover AFB, DE; RAF Alconbury, England; Dover AFB, DE again; Zaragoza AB, Spain; San Antonio, TX; Ft. Benjamin Harrison, IN; and Keesler AFB, MS.
I'm 52, and as my past "home towns" suggest, I'm a USAF veteran. My Air Force years were the best; they were the "real" part of my life.
I was born and raised in northern Arkansas. Born in Mountain Home, I lived in Salesville with my dear Grandmother and attended 12 years of school in Norfork. I graduated in 1974, one of 17 students, most of whom I'm still in contact with.
I'm married to Wes. We married the same year I was honorably discharged from the USAF, 1992. Last year he retired with 22 years of service.
He was 30 when we married; I was 36. He had never been married before; I had. We survived the first few years with our sanity and sense of humor in tact. I'd been single far too long and he'd never been married. It's a good thing we were really good friends! LOL
In the Air Force I was a Public Affairs Specialist and editor of several base newspapers. I've worked in a large jail facility in California; and as security for the base exchange here. I've also been a real estate agent, secretary, book keeper, and worked two summers in a medical supplies factory. Jill of all trades and master of none. I can't decide what I want to do when I grow up! LOL
Before I joined the USAF I raised parakeets on a semi-commercial level. I still love budgies, but don't have time to care for them properly right now so I put my bird efforts toward the wild birds.
I've never had children. For the majority of my adult years I was single and in the military. I decided early on that motherhood would not mesh with my lifestyle; I wouldn't give up my lifestyle and I wouldn't have children unless I could be a 100% "mommy".
I have 12 nieces and nephews that I love dearly. One nephew lived with us for several years so I'm not totally uninitiated in the joys (?) of parenthood! LOL
I love gardening, birds, sewing, quilting, cooking, scrap booking and, most of all, my dog, the infamous Harry. He ensures every day is fun and filled with love.
I too love to travel, but right now we're mired down in a massive remodel. Our house has tuned into a money pit; its issues began revealing themselves as soon as we closed on the place. Still, we will win! It won't ever be perfect, but it will meet the military standard of "clean, dry, and serviceable" when we're finished with it. It will be colorful, too!
I've been following the KT since late 1998. This was the first summer I got to meet fellow KTers. They're the best.
I feel I have been so blessed in my life. Even on my bad days I am thankful for all of God's blessings. The past ones, the current ones, and the future ones.

I'm Lily and I have lived in PA Dutch country my entire life. I have a son and a daughter and two grandkids. GD is 18 and heading to college and GS is 10 and very athletic. I've been a member here since 2001, I think. I live in an 1830-1840 farmhouse in a small town. I have five rescued cats, Lily, Nellie, Annie, Phoebe and Henry and one week ago today adopted a mutt from Pet finders who I named Ziggy, the wonder dog. I have two koi ponds on my less than 1/2 acre and most of them are two feet long and many are only four years old. I also have a hive of bees. I collected PA country antiques for over 30 years till I ran out of room. Auctions were my weekly passion. I like gardening, going to art and antique shows ,reading and going to grandson's sports. I speed walk a few miles a day and now have the wonder dog to keep up with me.

I am Sable and I don't recall my age. I've been married to DH for 23 years and before him, to previous DH for 17 years. We are all good friends, which is especially nice for the children - two adult sons & their wives, and one grandson, who all live in the Pacific Northwest.
I am a retired foreign language teacher, 30+ years teaching many grades; the final 14 at the military language school here on the Monterey Peninsula. DH still works there. His team designs language and culture programs for our troops serving overseas - his specialty is Arabic, but he deals with many other languages as well, including Dari, the main language of Afghanistan.
I have severe back problems and am considering have cortisone injections, because my range of motion is rather limited now. I love container gardening on our deck, raising amaryllis indoors (which I do year round), feeding and watching the birds who flock to our property, and tending to our house. My main delight, aside from DH, are our two cats, Elaine, a clever, sweet tabby-torbie, and Augustus, a shy, very cuddly tuxedo-boy. But my greatest love is reading, reading, reading. Those amazon dot com folks that you see vacationing in Hawaii are doing so on my dime! I enjoy non-fiction, history and biography, and sometimes a good mystery or thriller.
I've been a KTer since 2005, and love this site, even though I don't post all that often. I've received great advice, and always learn something. And I've enjoyed meeting other KTers in our area.

Hi everybody, I'm Mindy. I'm new to the KT. I've been a Gardenwebber for years but really just discovered this forum. I'm a gardening junkie, divorced for 5 years. I live with my 19 YO son Zack who is is college.
I'm turning 45 in October. I've always wanted to start my own 'Own root rose nursery' but I don't have the land for it at this time in my life. I was planning to sell last year and start to make that dream come true, but then the real estate market went down the dumps, so for now, I'm staying put.
I manage about 5000 cell phones for a large utility company.
I enjoy home decorating and 90% of all my projects are DIY.
I just put in a waterfall pond in my backyard this year. I love it.
I'm an animal lover. I have two weiner dogs, a small terrier mix, and two cats. My son has a giant Oscar, a Piranah and a bearded dragon. We used to have a rabbit before one of the weiner dogs got it.
Other enjoyments are camping, reading, going to antique and thrift stores, and travel.
Mindy

I have a daughter 35, who just had her first child, a beautiful little boy Andre' who will be 8 months on the 18th of this month. He is my first grandchild and I'm over the moon in love with him. My daughter is very happily married (3 years now)to a wonderful man. I had a son, who died when he was 28 on Christmas day 1996. I feel it's important to acknowledge Jason as he is and always will be a part of my life.
I am single now and loving it, I have wonderful friends and love to crochet, paint in watercolor, garden, cook, read and in general enjoy the simple things in life. I have no animals at the present time (for the first time in my life) but may get another kitty at some point. I love the KT and I've been a member for I believe almost 5 or 6 years now. What an awesome group of people...I really enjoy reading, responding and posting (once in awhile).

I'm Sheila. I have been married for almost 25 years and I have 2 daughters. We have lived in so many neat places because my husband was in the Air Force for over 20 years. Our most favorite place was Alaska. We now live in North Carolina and are loving it too. I have 2 mini dachshunds--Rascal and Baxter--they are about 18 months old and one "tweenie" dachshund--Alex--he is almost 11 years old. I have posted off and on here for years--but I mostly just lurk.

Hello! Another Susan here.
I live in a little town called Cameron, NC.
Next month my family will find out where we will be living. Either here near Ft Bragg or move to Ft Hood TX.
I am 41 years old. I am married to a wonderful man, Matt for over 10 years. I have two children, Matthew, 21, from my previous marriage and Zachary, 4 years old.
My kids have been my rock since my DH reinlisted in the Army. I like to say, "He is away on business now", but gets back to Ft Leonard Wood, Mossouri August 18th and then comes home, October 9th.
I have been a SAHM since Zachary was born but hope to get another job next year when Zach goes to school.
I don't really have a lot of time for myself but am never bored with a wild toddler running around. :)
I have been a member here since 2003 and am so happy to have found the KT.
Susan

Hi, I'am Karen. I'm (ahem) 50. I've lived in NC for the past 4 years. We relocated here from the PA-NJ area for DH job. I worked for the town at home.
We have 3 children 1 dd in Maine -30, 1 dd-26 in PA who has my only grandchild, and ds-21 who still lives at home. I have my black lab Murphy to keep me company. He goes with me everywhere. I love to garden and sew, do crafts and read. I collect Mickey Mouse. I read the paper from 'home' on line every morning and then lurk around the Gardenweb before doing housework and stuff.
Learn so much from a bunch of great people.

Surprising...my name is Sandy and I live in central Iowa! Born & raised in Marshall (SW) MN area. Moved to Iowa in '84, and this is now our home. Married to my very best friend Dean for 26 years, we have 2 DD's, Caryn is 24 and also lives in the same town we do. Kalie is 22 and lives with her boyfriend in their home and they both work for Wells Fargo (different locations). Dean has a 34 y/o son and we have a great DIL. They say there will be no kids. :(
I work as a receptionist for 2 wonderful people for the last 11 years...I think we will all be there together until we all retire! Dean works in Ames at a Hydro-Transmissions Co. Does some traveling...which is great for him, as I really don't like to travel and he does! =)
We have 3 VERY spoiled cats that allow us to live with them. Jiggs is about 6 and is Dean's cat!! Birdie Sue is about 5 and is happy with anyone that will give her attention and is just the best cat when we have little ones around! Louie is just a couple years old and is mine, he is just the sweetest loving boy! We also have a bunch of grandcats! Caryn has 2 Very spoiled girls, and Kalie has 3 cats and 1 dog (she is not real found of the dog...that came with the boyfriend).
We have had the privilege to host 2 KT gatherings here. I am allowed (HAHA) to have another one in 2010!!! Start saving your penny's now! =) First one there were over 40 peeps for the weekend, the 2nd there were about 25 for the weekend.....We really had some fun! We live right off of I-35, so it makes it a pretty easy area to get to!

My name is Judy, and I will be 51 on the last day of this month.
I live in Fort Worth Texas, but was born and raised in Portland Oregon. Family originated in Ellensburg Washington, Seattle and Portland.
I was a '70's hairdresser, but retired after 22 years with an electronics distributor in sales.
I have 3 grown children, a rescue Lhasa dog, and a fat grey cat with a equally fat attitude.
My DH and I have been married for almost 5 years, after living together for 8.
I love to work in the yard, paint on anything that doesn't move, and talk with my sister on the phone.
I began work in the nuclear field after boredom overcame my retirement, and find it a very odd industry. I just think working at this point in my life is odd anyway.
My worst vises are enjoying the "drink", wearing clothes that I have had for over 10 years, singing to any animal that will listen to me and not being able to stay on a diet or away from the computer for more than a couple of hours at a time.
Life is good, money is tight and all is normal on the home front.

I am Carol and a fourth generation Californian.....thus the name.
I am 68, been married almost 46 years to a great man and my best friend. We have three children. Steve is 43, married, lives in Tokyo and has one son, Jake and another baby due in mid November. My DD Susie will be 42 in a couple of weeks and has been with SO for almost 12 years. They went to high school together. No kids but a cat they got when they lives on Oahu. My other son, Scott was killed while on vacation just before his 8th birthday.....the same day Elvis Pressley died.
DH and I are retired. He was a whole sale liquor and wine salesman and I was an RN for 40 years. We love to travel and meet new people. I spend a lot of time gardening, reading and cooking. I am a rather casual housekeeper but keep the bathrooms and kitchen clean. Clutter and procrastination are major problems here.
I have lived on the beautiful central coast of California since I got married and knew I wanted to live here the first time I saw the ocean.....when I was 19. I was born and raised in the great San Joaquin Valley and don't miss it at all.
I have been at the KT since it started and feel like the people here are my family.
Thanks, Glenda, for starting this thread.

Hi - My name is Susan, and I'm 65. Sounds like a 12-step program for retirees, doesn't it?
I was born and raised in NYC, but have lived in an old farmhouse on 31 acres in northeast Pennsylvania for a lot of years. I have three children. My oldest daughter is 34. She works in IT for a pharmaceutical company and has a 17-year-old daughter. My daughter and her boyfriend are building a beautiful house on a lake, where we'll probably celebrate Christmas this year. My granddaughter is my mini-me, not so much in terms of looks but in sense of humor and other qualities (all of them good!). We have a lot of fun together.
My son is starting his last semester at Penn State this month and has a good job lined up in software design. He's an avid ham radio operator, and single-handedly erected a 12-story tower on my property last year. He lives nearby with his girlfriend (whom I love) and is always helping me with something.
We lost their sister Gillian, my middle child, seven years ago, when she was 25. My husband died 2.5 years ago, just after our 40th anniversary. He had been ill with dementia for ten years before that.
When he was well, one of our missions was to rescue as many animals as we could afford to take care of. At one point we had five dogs, 12 cats, and 11 horses. It was manageable with five of us to care for them. Today, I sometimes struggle with the care of two elderly dogs and a sick cat. I also have three younger, healthy cats.
I'm a writer, presently freelancing for a newspaper as a reporter/photographer, and just had another short story accepted by Woman's World. I am determined to be more focused in my writing, less susceptible to distraction and scattering my shots, in order to accomplish more. However, I've been saying that for quite a few years, so I wouldn't take any bets if I were you. I also work at home part-time for a lawyer.
I'm constantly trying to be a better housekeeper, and periodically succeed. The rest of the time I don't. It was easier when I wasn't living alone. I had some accountability then. When things get too cluttered I turn to the Organizing the Home forum. I do better in the garden, though, and take a lot of pleasure in my flowers and a few vegetables. Someone once told me my yard looked like the cover of a magazine. I said, "Thanks, but don't turn the page." In other words, don't open the door to my house—especially in spring and summer!
In the winter I do old-fashioned rug hooking (using strips of cut-up woolen clothes), and I'm an avid photographer year-round. I recently volunteered to photograph local gravestones for people doing genealogical research in other parts of the country, and I think that's going to be interesting.

I'm Tammy, and I'm 37. I live in Ohio, about 15 minutes away from Cedar Point if you know where that is.
I live with my dh Jason, my dd Alyssa who is 15, my step-son Justin who is 19, and my 4 cats and my dog.
My name is because I'm a Mickey Mouse freak. Pretty much anywhere in my house where you stand, if you look around you will see something of Mickey Mouse. My mom and dd and I are going to Disney World for Chritmas this year and have been saving all year for it. My mom has never been there, and the last time I went I was only 20.
I enjoy cross-stitching (which I don't do much now cuz my eyes are awful), roller-blading and dressing my dog in cute clothes!!

Amazingly, everyone rumbles along together pretty well! We are owned by a 1 year old cat named no-no, bad....oops I mean Posey. She is a mess, but endless entertainment!
I manage a 300 line switchboard, and am Minister of Music at our church. I enjoy music, home dec sewing, and just general doodling with my home. We have two acres of land in the middle of the city, so it isn't too bad!

I chose my name because by biggest hobby is gardening. DH and I are building a new garden here at the "new" house we moved into over 2 1/2 years ago. The first two summers were spent digging grass out of the retaining walls beds, rescuing the few remaining plants in them, then digging up and transplanting plants from my old home. Now we're concentrating on building the veggie garden by putting down cardboard and covering it with 10-12 inches of black dirt and mulching it with half-rotted straw. In a couple of summers the veg garden should be done and we can add a few more flower beds in our huge back yard. We also want to add some fruit trees and plants. So far, our big herd of deer has left the gardens alone. Must be because of the dog, Maddie, a lab and shepherd mix. She loves to chase all kinds of critters that invade her turf and threaten ;) her family. Like timber wolves, deer, coyotes, mama mud turtles laying their eggs, snakes, chipmunks, mice, birdies eating on the ground, deer flies, etc. She's a real character. We got her nearly 2 years ago when she was about 4 years old.
I have 3 DDs ages 34, 32, and 23, on DS age 22 and 2 step DD's ages 33 and 31. We have 9 grandchildren ages 15, 14, 13, 12, 9, 9, 9, 6, 6. I think. All the daughters and grandkis live out of state and sadly don't get to see them often enough. They are all working and gone allot and the three of us work 7 days a week. DH and I haven't had a real vacation since our honeymoon over 11 years ago.
DH and I met nearly 15 years ago when we both were in college and we both ran for president of the Student Senate. The crumb beat me, I was pretty upset. But he was so gracious and apologetic he won me over. I had no intention of ever remarrying but he changed my mind! We went on to serve on the State Student Association board, and DH was also on the State college governing board.
I have worked as a clerk for the county for over 8 years. Had lots of interesting jobs over the years - as a secretarial temp during college and several years after, business manager for an insane boss for a year before I got this job, security guard at our big race track, service writer for a repair garage, housekeeping, gardener at 2 of our premiere resorts, etc.
DH is a radio announcer with his own show for the broadcasting company that owns most of the stations in central MN. He has also served on the school board for 10 years.
DS is in college for mechanical engineering. He constantly amazes me in what things he can accomplish. He is working full-time and paying his own way.
Sorry I made this post so long!

We have 3 sons. Our oldest is a mechanical engineer and lives in Oregon with his girlfriend and my granddog. Our second is a plumber and lives in Brooklyn with his girlfriend and my other granddog. Our third still lives at home and he is a Vet Tech Assistant.
All our boys love animals, as do we. Declan is my sweet angel 3 year old shepherd / chow mix (hence the name).
I work locally for my brother who owns his own business. All my family lives within 5 miles of each other except for my older sister who lives in Florida.
My life is very full and I am extremely grateful every day for my family and friends and all that I am given.
I love to read, decorate, garden, spend time with family and friends and help out whomever I can.
I am fairly new here.....mostly I run through the forums when it's quiet at work. There are so many wonderful, caring and helpful people here. I love this forum.

I've been a member of That Garden Site for about 8 yrs but just started coming to the KT several months ago. I've posted a few times, but mostly lurk. I've learned a lot and enjoy the friendliness an generosity of the "family" here. I haven't met any KTers yet but will hopefully be meeting Sharon_Fl when she comes to visit her family here in Pa later this month. I enjoy spending time with my family, movies, TV, my computer, scrapbooking, reading and cross-stitching.

I don't do crafts and I'm not creative but I enjoy a lot of different activities. Discovered figure skating (ice) as an adult and love it. I'm having trouble with my little toe right now and really miss it and can't wait to go back. I am a very active Red Hatter and belong to 3 chapters. I love the outdoors, especially the beach and anything around water. Learning to ocean kayak is on my do to list.
I'm pet-mom to two dogs, a Black Lab boy and a Rottie girl,a Desert Tortoise and a Map Turtle.

I'm 58, married for 35 years to a wonderfully accomplished man - I call him my Renaissance man - he has his own successful business, he can cook gourmet meals, paint, decorate, do calligraphy, he enjoys growing heirloom tomatoes, fine art, Persian rugs, jewelry (not for himself, he buys it for me) and our place in the mountains.
I'm far less artistic but I love gardening, sewing, needlework, reading, and antiques. I'm a retired reference librarian for the Free Library of Philadelppahia and I have 3 great children. My eldest son just finished his MBA and is anxiously waiting a promotion. My middle son has found his great passion in life - he just finished his first year of law school and absolutely loves it. And my youngest, my daughter graduated university and is still searching for a career that she loves and is considering going back to school for a horticulture degree.
I'm hoping my husband retires next year and we can spend more times inn the mountains and do a little traveling.

Wow, lot of people here! I'm going to have to read this post tomorrow when I'm not so sleepy. I'm Kathleen, been at the KT for a long time. I'll be 46 in September. I can't believe I'm nearly 50!!!
I'm a nurse, been one for about 5 years now. Working on a med-surg floor that's really rough. Thinking about going to PACU (surgical recovery) or one of the clinics soon. Before that I was a SAHM who did a little market gardening, before that I worked at various clerical jobs and before that I was in the Air Force. Also worked at an onion dehydration plant, fast food and in a casino restaurant as a bus girl.
I'm divorced and have two kids, boy and a girl. We have a dog, Luther. Lauren had a fish, beta but she died a couple weeks ago.
I love gardening and recently expanded my veggie garden by taking out our above ground pool. Used to do a lot more crafty stuff but don't have the time anymore.

Stepping out of Lurkdom...
My name is Annie and I've been a GW member since 2001 (I think). I live way up in the frozen north of Northern Alberta (which is not so frozen right now...it's been over 30C all week!!!).
I've been married to DH for almost 17 year, and we've been together for 21 years this fall. I have three children, DS is 15, DD1 will be 12 next week, and DD2 is 9. I work as an educational assistant at my DD2 school, and love what I do. I have travelled across Canada several times, but have yet been to Newfoundland. I have lived in several provinces, too. I hope to someday retire to the Maritimes...my childhood home, and my forever home!
I enjoy gardening, cooking, sewing/quilting and most anything domestic (I'm a whiz with an iron!!! LOL). No pets...allergies. We are building our dream home on an acreage in the country, and I am looking forward to planting trees and gardens next spring.
I may not post often, but I lurk daily and rejoice in your joys, and grieve in your sadness. What a fun bunch you all are!
Stepping back into Lurkdom...
Annie

Hi, my name is Ausilia, 46. I'm divorced and the mother of three great kids. My oldest son is an actor (I posted some of his commericals awhile back) my second son is a restaurant manager in downtown Vancouver Canada and my baby daughter is a bank teller and lives in Edmonton AB with me. I grew up in Northern Ontario (Land of the Goose) and have lived out west for 19 yrs. I have been coming to the KT since 1999, mostly lurking but have posted once in awhile. I love the great receipes and looking at everyone's pictures. I work at a car dealership and I sell Avon. I worked part-time at a restaurant for 17 years and finally retired from that, so now just one job. I'm off to my hometown tonight, (taking the redeye). I've learnt that you can fly faster and cheaper to Europe than you can across Canada. That's about it in a nutshell, pretty boring.

Laurel here, from Southern Ontario. I'm 55,coming up on my 35th anniversary with DH, Dave. We have one DD, a really great DSil and 2 of the sweetest Grandsons in the world (IMHO), and one furbaby, Sadie. I regularly babysit other small breed dogs, as it gives me a little pocket money and I don't have to leave the home to work. I love to garden, read, and cook. My favorite tv channels are the food network and HGTV.

Wanda here, from the Blue Ridge Mountains in northwestern Virginia. I'm 60, married, and we are both retired from the federal government--I took early retirement at 46. I have been at KT for 10 years, and have made a lot of friends here--have even met a number of KTers in person.
I lost my son in 2006 (he was 40); he gave me 2 grandsons (now 19 and 15). DH has 2 sons and 3 grandsons. Our home is ruled by Bandit (a 12-pound Yorkshire Terrier), who is beyond spoiled.
My main hobbies are the computer, reading, and Bible study. Oh, and I'm totally addicted to quilting!!

I'm Fran, 66 years of age, and live in Southern Massachusetts, minutes off I 95. My husband of 35 years died last year after a long battle with cancer. My two adopted (from Korea) daughters are 29 and 30 and live in NYC. They live only about six blocks from each other and are very good friends. I have an aging springer spaniel named Millie who is my constant companion. She has to keep me in her sight at all times because she is now completely deaf.
I check in every day, but don't post very often. I spend a lot of time on the Quilting Forum and also the Kitchen Forum because I remodeled the kitchen last year. I love to quilt, travel, also play bridge and read a lot. Gardening is not my favorite thing to do, but I can't avoid doing some because this house has a big yard. All in all, life is good and I am thankful for what I have.

I'm Jodi, 55, married to my childhood sweetheart. We were neighbors growing up and have known each other since I was in the second grade.
We live in Orange County in Southern California and have been here as long as we have been married, 35 years.
We have two kids, a boy 21 and girl 23. Both are a true blessing. Our daughter is a singer/dancer/designer who is still trying to find herself and having a blast in the process. Our son is very grounded and focused. He's already graduated from trade school and has a great job working as a mechanic for Audi. Gosh it's nice to have a mechanic we can trust!!!
My husband is a wonderful man. Smart, loving, active and kind. He has his own business and plays tennis twice a day, seven days a week. He's one of the nicest persons I know. I just got lucky the day I found him.
I'm a Graphic Designer for a high-tech firm. I create anything from web graphics and huge tradeshow posters to Powerpoint presentations and print ads. I love to read and travel and one day, when I find some time, I will process the rest of my recent vacation photos to Japan, Russia and Alaska and start posting them again. Just got a bit side-tracked by life right now.
I've been around the KT since 1998 and have met quite a few followers. Still have a lot more to go. One day I hope we can get an Orange County gathering set up.
Jodi-

As my KT name suggests, I'm Barb and I live in a small town north of Pittsburgh PA. I'm 55 (the speed limit) and have been married to DH Ken for 31 years. (Barbie and Ken - get it?) I have two grown daughters; one an athletic trainer and one an elementary school teacher. I am a preschool teacher and direct the church choir. I'm blessed to have both my parents in good health. Our dog is Dudley plus I have a cockatiel and two finches. I like doing crafty stuff, but haven't had any big projects for quite a while. I enjoy checking in at KT every day and hearing from you all and seeing all your great pictures. Thanks to Glenda for starting this thread. It's nice to hear about you all!

My real name is Clare, which is my Mom's and Grandmom's middle name. No girls, so ends with me. I am 56 1/2 and have one DS who just turned 24. As some of you might know, he has high functioning Autism and also very sever OCD. He has several medical problems too. Being his caregiver has defined my life for the last 24 years.
Almost forgot to metion one of our biggest joys for the last 5 years, Elvira, a mini Dachshund. She has been great for all of us, but especially for my DS. He really came out of his shell because of her. He now goes up to strangers with dogs and talks to them about her and ask questions about their dogs. He never did that before. And she keeps us rolling on the floor with all her antics. I wonder if she knows she is that funny?
I was born in Westminister, MA and lived there till I was 9 1/2 when we moved to Decatur, IL. I went to college at Eastern IL Univ. and graduated in 2 1/2 years. I worked in Chicago for 2 years after graduation, but didn't like the big city so moved down to Champaign-Urbana and worked at the U. of IL library. That is where I met my DH, who was going for his Masters in Engineering. That was in March, we had a whirlwind courtship, and was married on Labor Day Sept. 1977. We flew out to CA right after the ceremony because he had to be back to work the next day. We are coming up on our 32nd.
When we first lived in CA, we lived all over the South Bay area and eventually bought our first house in San Jose in 1981. I went to San Jose State and got my Masters in Library Science. I worked as a manager of all the libraries at Intel. We moved over to the coast in 1986. We live up in the mountains on 2.5 acres which keeps us busy. DH loves to work on house remodeling projects and has been doing them for 22 years. We finally did the kitchen 2 years ago after living with the 1971 ugly one for 20 years. We are now replacing all the carpet with solid hardwood floors. Like everything, we do it ourselves.
I have a big garden because I love fresh veggies and lots of flowers. I have always had a garden where ever I went. I can't imagine not having one. My Mom said as soon as I could walk I followed my Dad around the garden (the gardener in the family) copying everything he did. I also love to cook and really love to bake. Too much so, that is why I am so fluffy. LOL
I have been into photography since I was 10 and even use to have a darkroom. About 13 years ago I started getting into Photoshop and later switched to that. I do miss my B & W photography though. I have also toyed with jewelry making and glass bead making. I hope to get a kiln and make fused and slumped glass in the future. I love to do anything creative. I still do sewing, knitting, crocheting and embroidery.
The biggest highlight of the last year was going to FL to help celebrate my Mom's 90th birthday. I can't wait to help her celebrate her 100th!
Clare

I was born in York, PA. in 1937 and grew up in Pa., West Virgina and New Jersey. At the age of eighteen I married a fellow in the Air Force, and moved to Albany Georgia where he was stationed. I wanted to be a mommy so bad and when month after month went by with no results I was almost certain I would never have a baby. Finally, I got preggers and had a beautiful healthy baby boy, he will be 54 in September. When he was three months old I got pregnant again this time I had a little girl. I went on to have three more boys and another girl. My baby is now 42. I was a stay at home mom and enjoyed every minute of it. They are all grown now with families of their own, a total of 14 grand children and 5 greats. To help fill the empty spaces in a five bedroom house, I adopted 3 chihuahuas. A lot of my time now is spent taking care of my hubby who has diabetes. He has no feeling in his feet and hands and some of his meds make him a little dizzy. We have been married for 53 years now and he took very good care of me, now it is my turn to care for him. I used to have a ton of hobbies including knitting, crocheting, sewing, ceramics, candles, wood working, decorative painting, scrap booking and many more. I now have stopped most of them, keeping just a few to keep me out of trouble. I do love to cross stitch, sew, paint and read. That about sums it up. Vique.

Stephanie, 38 next month and married 16 years next month (we met in HS). Ohio native, Ohio State alumni, and now in Georgia north of Atlanata (via Florida and Tennessee). Four kids: 3 boys ages 15, 12 next month (busy month), and 6, and one girl age 8 1/2. After 14 years as SAHM, I've been substitute teaching for a year and enjoy it, but it makes me itch to be in my own classroom. I am working slowly on what I need to get certified again, so maybe next year I will teach full-time. I prefer middle school reading/language arts, but HS English is OK, too.
For "me time" I like to read, browse a bookstore, and sometimes play my flute.
I've been on and off the KT since, I think, I was pregnant with DD, which would be about 9 years and two states ago.

Julie here. I am 61 (wow, already!) years old and I live in a small town in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Moved here into a new house after spending 25 years in a little village renovating an old house. Love the new house, miss the old house. I have been married to my DH for 35 years. We have two adult (?) children, a daughter who lives in a small city nearby, and a son who lives with us. My DH, myself and our son are raising our grandson, who is now 6. We are both retired. DD works with the OPP as a dispatcher for 911; DS works as a groundskeeper for the local golf course. Both are excellent at what they do. DH has been retired for 9 years, and I retired when the grandboy arrived, knowing that he would be living with us from day 1. Love to garden, enjoy housekeeping and cooking, love my little doggie Ajax the Boston and his furry plaything Paws the cat. Life is good for us. Have lurked at Garden Web and That Home site for years! Occassionally post. Hi everybody!

I'm Sherry and 60. We got home yesterday from seven wonderful days with our entire family (19 of us!) in a resort in Door County, WI. Hub and I have been married 40 years and have six talented, accomplished kids between 39 and 23 years old and 5 grands between 1 and 5, another on the way.
Hub is a retired journalist; I spent many years in the high school library, loving every minute. Four kids are married, one dtr is thinking about it, next week youngest dtr is going to SKorea to teach English for a year. I'm terribly sad about that (such a long way to go), yet proud of her, too. I feel very lucky that we get to spend a lot of time with our kids, so watching this last independent little cuss fly away to Ireland for 6 months, China for 2 months, now Korea for a year...
Hub and I have lived in Milwaukee County for 15 years, where we raised the last two girls. He is a writer and hopeless romantic, displaced from his beloved SW Arizona. I am disorganized and a bit of a packrat, but I love to sew, read and cook. Three years ago we were both diagnosed with cancer within 7 weeks of each other. I have had no further problems, but hub has had two life-threatening illnesses unrelated to cancer since then; he is currently (slowly) recovering from deep vein thrombosis in his groin and legs and very anxious to get back to normal.
I have to catch up on a week's worth of KT postings! Yikes!

I'm still working as a part-time accounting assistant, with hopes of retiring in a year or so.
I check in almost daily, but seldom post. Have been at KT for a long time...can't remember when I first found it. Have learned so much from all of you!

I've been around here for 7 or 8 years and while I frequently respond to posts, I rarely do the now practically monthly "get to know you" posts because I am very cautious about the amount of info I put out on the net about myself.
(Those of you whom I've met know that I don't like my real name used, I guess I'm a privacy freak!)
I live in TX with TG (telescope guy). We both work full time in IT and for fun we travel, garden and stargaze.

Hi...I'm Nancy, and I live in western NC. I tell people I've been married for 38 years, but it took me 47 years and three husbands to accomplish it! Been married now for 21+ years to an all-around DIYer who had his own remodeling/handyman business until six bypasses laid him low a couple of years ago. Still does small jobs for those on his "little old lady" list. I wish he'd put me on it!
Just returned from the West Coast where I attended DGD's wedding. Both exes were there, and I got big hugs from both. DS has been married to the best DIL in the world for more than 26 years, and I had the privilege of staying with them and my 7-year-old DGS while in Oregon.
I have had fun with a lot of different crafts over the years, but now I mostly read, and read, and read some more, when I should be doing something a little more productive.
I also spend WAY too much time lurking here! A better bunch of people cannot be found.

April here, from SE FL (my particular town may as well be hurricane capital of the world - got frances, jean, and wilma all in a row as direct hits - can you tell where my mind is this weekend with another storm out there? lol!).
37, owned by 3 dachshunds and a 14y ds. Married-ish, not sure how it's all going to play out, but I'm ok with that.
I'm an LPN and have worked in a primary care doctor's practice for 10 years now. I'll eventually get back to school, I'm kind of disappointed in myself for not getting there yet, but I have a plan for the "new and improved me" and am just waiting for certain things to fall into place for it all to spark and happen :-) My house is currently for sale (that's part of the things falling into place thing) so if anyone wants to relocate to Sunny FL, let me know, lol!
In addition to working 1 full time job and 1 part time job, I have diabetes and Lupus, which explains why I don't post a lot. I read here EVERY day, but some days I'm just too dang tired and sore and beat down to post. But I'm in every thread in spirit :-)
I love to read, love to cook (I peruse the cooking and recipe exchange forums too!), and like to pretend that I can garden (I tend to ignore the fact that everything I plant dies and blame it on our insane heat here).
I've heard it said that friends are the family you get to choose for yourself, and while I love my RL family, this one at KT runs a very close second :-)

All righty, guess it's time for me to jump in here. :)
I'm Eva and live in a teeny town in east Texas on Cedar Creek Lake (between Jaybird & Vannie.)
I just turned 67 and am happy to be! DH Ken and I have 2 kids that I can finally call "adults" and 5 grands. DD Sandy, 45, & her DH live in north Houston & have a DD almost 15 and DS 12 years old. DS Gary, 40, his wife of 1 year and 2 of her children, DD- 15, and DS- 11, live in Katy (50 miles from Sandy.) Andrea, my wonderful DIL, has another son, Mark - 22- in the Navy in San Diego, CA.
DH and I will reach our 46th anniversary on Sunday, the 17th. He retired in '93 from Exxon and we moved here in '94. It's the longest I've lived in one place in my entire life.
I've been at the KT since at least '99, probably earlier. I've met several KTers and consider them all friends. You here have been with me through some great times and some really tough times, and I'm so glad I found ya'll!

I am Moni. Born in Germany in 1954. This year, I am 54 years old/young. I consider this my lucky year. Born in 54, and 54 is my age. Yeah.
I am married to the same guy for almost 36 years. Mother to two wonderful but sometimes odd daughters. Ulrike lives in Iowa now, and Lori is married to Doug and lives in New Mexico.
I have moved 4 times since the fall of 1998. I HATE moving. Still unpacking, and hate that too.
Meanwhile I run (actually bike) away from home quite regular, to do extended bicycle tours.
They are online here:
Here is a link that might be useful: Moni's biking stories: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/giantcycle99

Hi - I am Renee, a transplanted Northerner now living in Central Florida. I first moved here after 9/11 and didn't think I would stay but I love it now - except for the hurricanes.
I am 48 and single, have a wonderful BF and live with four kitties - Jack (orange and white tabby), Ernie (fat brown tabby), Lola (brown Maine Coon) and Kaci (black and white Maine Coon mix).
I have recently taken up two fun hobbies. The first is raising Monarch butterflies. I just had another girl yesterday morning. I am mesmerized by the whole process. The second is geocaching. My love of rooting through thrift stores and garage sales makes me a natural at this form of treasure hunting.

Each day of my life starts out with coffee, the local paper, reading my PA online paper & the KT forums...after which I start my busy(?) day.

Hi ! My given name is Yvonne but I am also known as Vonnie. The person above me, Sharon_fl is my cousin and she introduced me to this great place just a couple of months ago. I don't post much, but I read almost daily.
I will be 46 in just a few weeks. I have been married too many times but currently share my life with my husband of 3 years, Larry. I have worked in retail since I was 17 and now am currently taking a hiatus and reevaluating my life. I am Mom to Daniel Lee 27, Robert David 26, Matthew Scott 24, and Megan Ashley 21. Nana to Keegan Scott 4, Kameran Matthew 15 months, and Hayden Daniel who turns 1 on Sunday ! Larry and I are "parents" to one spoiled beagle named Willie.
I am an avid reader and like the simple things in life.

Mindy

Have several friends that I enjoy doing things with. They are lots of laughs so we do have fun !

My name is Susan (one of several on the KT). I live in Culver City California, which is near LAX, Santa Monica and Venice. This is my hometown having lived her all my life, which is 62 years. I work at UCLA at the Anderson School. We are in the top 10 business schools world wide and I am the director of the facilities and bldg. services department. I have been here almost 14 years, having a 22 year career in aerospace before coming here. I'm hoping to retire next June God willing.

Susan

Much to my displeasure I have no grand children but do have a 10 yr old Niece who I am very close to, we spend a lot of time together. She's 10, going on 25.

Hello, I'm Sharon, living in SC. I'm a transplant from Ohio, where I was born and raised. Married for 41 years, out of my 62. Blessed with 3 great children and 2 grandchildren.
My first two children were a year apart, then 15 years later(!!), our third child was born. That's some delay!
DH will retire in a few years, then the marriage will be tested! LOL.
I enjoy reading about what everyone has to say on the KT.
Hobbies include, reading, gardening, sewing, kntting, usual stuff. I have retired from the occupations of, x-ray tech, and office manager.
One of life's highlights, was our trip to Paris, then Egypt, 2 years ago. What an experience!

I'm Janice, age 55 but about 20 in my head. Janice was taken so I use "Jannie" on KT. I'm married, have two grown teen daughters, two cats and a dog. I worked for the government for 31 years, till kidney failure got the best of me. I get dialysis three days a week, I'm on three lists to get a kidney transplant, wish me luck. I love gardening, mostly flowers but this year I started some heirloom tomato plants, and I have a peach tree with about 500 peaches on it right now. I like cooking, too, and eating.

About me. I'm 57 years young and still a bit of a Wild Child ;-). Married to my first DH for 35 years next month. Two grown kids, a DD and DS. DD is my best friend and DS makes me LOL because he is so much like I used to be and doesn't know it or at least refuses to admit it. LOL
Both DH and I are California natives from the San Fransisco Bay Area.
Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love to play dress up even when it's not Halloween. My alter-ego is a pirate.

mcmann here.

Jodi-

I have two grown daughters; one an athletic trainer and one an elementary school teacher.

Thanks for this post which gives me the chance to say hi.

Here you go:
